From September 4th to 8th, Christophe Claret is attending the Bangkok Watchmaking Exhibition 2019, the first biggest independent watch and clock exhibition in Thailand, which takes place at Gaysorn Centre, Gaysorn Village, Bangkok.
For this occasion, Christophe Claret has created a unique piece, The Blessed One, which will be sold at auction and its proceeds donated to the Kamlangjai Project, spearheaded by Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakkitiyabha, otherwise known as the “Inspire” project intended to reach out to incarcerated Thai women and their babies, including pregnant prisoners. The aim is to help these women by providing adequate assistance and occupational training to prepare them to re-enter society upon release.
For this unique piece, Christophe Claret uses the mirascope, already integrated for the first time in the Aventicum watch in 2014. This technique achieves an almost 2x enlargement of the micro-engraved gold replica of an elephant placed in the dial center. Thanks to the optical effect, the elephant looks as if it is thrusting out of the middle of the watch.
