Adagio is an astounding minute repeater with cathedral gongs featuring a large date and a second time zone.
As a tribute to his manufacture’s first caliber introduced over 20 years ago, Christophe Claret has designed Adagio as a minute repeater – chiming the hours, the quarters-hours and minutes after the quarter-hours on demand – so enabling the time to be heard rather than read.
The in-house Caliber SLB88 is composed of no fewer than 455 components. The cathedral gongs of the striking mechanism feature a patented device preventing them from touching when they vibrate under the hammer strikes.
Adagio features central hour and minutes and small seconds at 9 o’clock, a second time zone in a subdial at 2 o’clock which indicates both hours and minutes, and a day/night indicator.
The large date window at 6 o’clock features another patented mechanism especially designed to minimize de-synchronization of the date discs under the dial, thus maximizing reliability.
